Our annual Young Language Science Scholar (YLSS) event is organized by graduate students with the support of CLS staff and administrators. Each fall, CLS graduate students have the opportunity to select a postgraduate language scientist in the early stages of their career. The Young Scholar is someone who exhibits exceptional academic achievement and has made significant contributions to their field. They are invited to visit the CLS, present a talk on their research, and meet with students and faculty. A highlight of the event is a poster session where undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows share and discuss their research with the Young Scholar and other members of the CLS community. The event provides graduate students with a unique professional development opportunity, and serves to support and enhance the CLS’s vibrant interdisciplinary research community.
