Ames Radwan

Graduate Student of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese

Biography:

Ames Radwan is a graduate student (M.A./Ph.D.) in the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at Pennsylvania State University, on the Hispanic Linguistics track. Ames earned their B.A. in Spanish and Linguistics (graduating Cum Laude and with Honors) and M.A. in Spanish at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2023. Their M.A. thesis concerned social language attitudes of native vs. second-language Spanish speakers about the sheísmo dialect of Argentina and Uruguay.

Research interests: Sociolinguistics, dialect variations, language contact, language change, and gender in gendered languages
